Not bad, but could be better.
Pros
Preset stations; takes 1 AAA battery; good battery life; TV & weather band; good price.
Cons
Velcro armband is restrictive when working out; poor reception.
Recommended it?
No
The Bottom Line:
I'd pass and go for a belt clip radio with better reception.
I wanted a portable FM radio that I could use while working out. I found this one at Sears for $20 and gave it a try. It holds 42 preset stations (total for AM/FM/TV/weather band) with easy preset up/down toggle buttons to press (instead of fumbling with a dial to turn to tune in a station), takes only one AAA battery, has good battery life.
But...the Velcro armband was restrictive when I worked out and the reception wasn't too good. Now I'm no Schwarzenegger, but when I had the radio strapped just over my elbow and under my bicep, it felt very restrictive when I bent my arm to move and flex. There really was no good spot to put it on my arm so the band didn't cut off circulation or the wire for the headband didn't get in my way. Plus the reception was NOT that good. Given that my gym has cement walls and I worked out in the basement level for the most part, but it still should have had better reception than it did.
I wound up returning this model, shelling out another 9 bucks and got the Sony Walkman (model #SRF-M37V), which...has a belt clip and gets awesome reception (along with all of the pros I listed above for the Emerson). All in all, if you can deal with the armband and live close to a radio tower...this will be fine for $20. But I'd suggest going for the belt clip Sony for $30 and being happier.
