The Bottom Line:
Overall, it has been perfect for m needs. A Bose would be nicer, but is far too costly.
I've owned this radio for about 2 years now, and it has met or exceeded all my requirements/expectations. First of all, the price was right - around $15, with free shipping. I live in a fringe area for the station I most often listen to, and the reception is pretty good. The sound is clear and the controls are easy to use. (Some analog radios have a knurled wheel that must be turned to select the station, but this has a knob, which makes tuning more sensitive.) Although I do not use it, it is nice to know that it has a weather radio.
I use the radio exclusively as a table-top radio with AC cord. There is no noticeable AC hum. Before buying this unit, I tried a few boom-box radios and found none of them to be sensitive enough to receive the station I was seeking. I bought it to replace a Panasonic radio of similar size and appearance. It had been very satisfactory but is no longer being sold.
I have had a couple of problems with the radio. For one thing, the antenna only raises straight up, does not tilt at an angle. Also, sometimes there is drift, and rarely the FM station I want is simply overwhelmed by closer, stronger stations. (I have attached a wire to the end of the antenna, and usually that has solved that problem.)
