I Can See Clearly Now - Think ENVISION EFT920 CRT Monitor

Pros View without distortion - Great Resolution and Clear Text and Graphics. No fuzziness
Cons None at all
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  I am thrilled with this Monitor and don't see why you wouldn't be, too!
I thought my 17" HP monitor was good. I enjoyed using it until the day it just plain quit on me. Nothing. Nil. It was done and I had lots of computer work to do that day! I was a little upset, you might say.

I hopped in the car and drove two blocks away to Staples. But I got even more upset when I saw the prices of those beautiful thin monitors. No way could I pay those prices as we'd just invested in another computer and car repairs, etc.

But down the counter, all by itself, I saw an Envision EFT920 Extra Large 19" Flat Screen color monitor. Excuse me? Did you say Envision? I'd never heard of it, but the sales clerk assured me that it was a good brand, and you know that sales clerks always are looking out for the customer!

I was desperate. It was priced very low, considering that I once had paid over $500 for a smaller monitor, so, thinking of all the work ahead of me and Staples' 30-day Return Policy, I bought it and headed home.

Connecting the Envision Monitor
What can I tell you that you don't know? It was so easy that I didn't believe it.

The box contained the Monitor, a swivel base, the power cord and a small instruction pamphlet.
It's a large monitor, weighing 44 lbs. in a beautiful silver and black case.

The screen is definitely flat. No curves whatsoever to attract glare or dust or fruit flies. If you read a review that mentions a curve, all I can say is that the person must be reviewing another monitor. This one, the EFT920, is gorgeously FLAT.

I merely attached the monitor to the swivel base, set it on my computer desk, attached the cord to the computer and plugged it in!

Voila! Windows XP HE opening screen was in my sights on the screen, loud and clear! And I do mean Loud & Clear!

Adjustments
The picture came on my screen and the OS didn't even have to announce it had found a new piece of hardware. However, the screen was off to the right and I would need to adjust it.

No problem. There are 4 buttons in the center of the base for adjustments, besides the Power Indicator and the Power Button, which are on the right. I think that's pretty standard

The Menu Button
When you press this button, the On Screen Display (OSD) appears, which allows you to adjust these settings:

Language, Horizontal Center, Horizontal Size, Vertical Center and Size, Zoom, Pincushion, Trapezoid, Pin Balance, Parallelogram, Rotation, 6500 Color Temp, User Color (red/blue), 9300 Color Temp, Degauss, Moire Reduce, Recall (back to default) and Exit.

So you can see the Envision EFT920 Monitor is completely under your control. All I needed to do, however, was to adjust the Horizontal center and size and make a small adjustment on the Vertical settings.

The Envision Information
They have been in business for over twenty years and have a nice Website at: www.envisiondisplay.com.

I visited it and downloaded a comprehensive Manual for this monitor, available in .pdf or text formats. They even have drivers you can download if your computer has problems with this monitor.

The manual has all the specifications you'd ever want to know about the monitor and, of course, comprehensive instructions and troubleshooting, should one need them.

The Dot Pitch .21mm (Horiz) and .25mm (Diag)
1600 x 1200 is the Max Resolution.
The screen is 19" FLAT (18" VIS)
Optimal viewing mode is 1280 x 1024 @85hz.

My Experience with the Envision EFT920
This has been my best experience with a monitor yet. There is no flicker whatsoever and the text is clear.

I was beginning to think I needed new glasses before buying this monitor and had changed my monitor settings to 800 x 600 (old monitor) so I could read text on the Internet. But I have gone back to 1024 x 768, again, and can read everything with no problems at all.

The other night I was on an online chat and could not believe the difference in how clear and easy it was to participate in it.

So, if you are looking for a new monitor and don't want to pay extra for plasma screens, etc., this is a wonderful one. I can attest to it.

Thanks for reading my review and if I left anything unanswered, please feel free to address it in the comments.

You can clearly see that I'm sold on the ENVISION EFT920 19" monitor -- that's because I can see clearly now!!
