Wouldn't Buy it Again

Pros Nothing special.
Cons The cost of ink cartridges is astronomical.

Doesn't do better than any other printers I've ever had. In fact it's slower than some for which I've paid less. Read full review »

Good Printer for the Money

Pros Very easy set up. Less than 10 minutes, I was ready to go.
Cons Replacement ink seems a bit high for a small ink cartridge.
Recommended it? Yes

I've used an Epson CX3200 (3 in 1) printer for the past 3+ years until it wasn't printing an acceptable document. I bought a replacement Epson CX8400 (3 in 1) at Circuit City for $80.00. Extremely easy to set up. Comes with a multi fold quick start brochure and easy load CD driver software. Easy to... Read full review »

I am a picky consumer, and am concerned about (print) quality, not speed.  I "thought" the CX-8400 was a good buy.  The scanner capabilities were pretty good too.  But what I failed to realized was how quickly it sucked up ink.  It's the vampire of ink jets!  I have never printed a full color 8x10,... Got this for free after rebates - what a disappointment! 3rd Epson in 7 years, others had little or no problems. AFter 2 months of very low use, it fails! Epson is sending me a replacement, but the inconvenience and time spent on the problem not worth it! Also, set up was disastrous (w/ both XP &... Read full review »

Lousy Printer

Pros The only good thing about it is that the photos it prints are beautiful.
Cons See my comments above.
Recommended it? No

I bought this to replace a CX5400 which was a wonderful printer, except the yellow font clogged. I loved it because the scanner was terrific, the copier functioned just like an expensive copier with reduce and enlarge functions galore and lots of other options. The CX8400 is noisy, has very few... Read full review »

Pros Great quality, and affordable ink
Cons Card stock must be fed 1 sheet at a time or it may jam

My previous printer was an EPSON PHOTO 900, it was a great printer for 5 years, then a water pipe broke and soaked the printer. Needing a printer right away I purchased a EPSON CX8400 from BEST BUY for $59. Simple to set up, worked great right out of the box. The software is easy to use and the... Read full review »

Pros None.
Cons Did not work out of the box. Tiny ink cartridges.
Recommended it? No

My Epson CX5400 failed after 3 years of use. It no longer recognizes the Epson brand ink cartridges. So, I decided to upgrade to the CX8400 since it was a reasonable price. (I paid $79.99.)

Opened the box, inserted the Epson ink cartridges, powered on the printer, did not connect the... Read full review »

Pros NONE
Cons TOO MANY TO LIST!

I have been a loyal Epson printer user for many many years...yes, they are noisy, but they print great quality photos and documents. BUT in May I purchased a CX8400 because I thought I'd get rid of my ancient ScanJet and go to an All-In-One....not with this printer! This has been by far the WORST... Read full review »

Pros Easy To Use, Good Value, Fast
Cons Expensive Ink, Noisy

I bought the Epson CX8400 multifunction printer in March 2008 primarily to use it for photo printing, color printing, and scanning documents/photos.  If I need to print black and white text, I use a Samsung laser printer.  As far as the quality of the color prints/photos, they are...
