I purchased this projector around 1.5 years ago new for around $250 (thanks fatwallet!). At the time, I grabbed it because of the price, but I did my research before the purchase. Just like inkjets, projectors will kill your budget in the long run with the consumables. Projector bulbs can run $300+! But the S1+ bulb is more like $150. Plus it is a 2000 hour bulb. I only use this projector for movie night at my house. That comes out to $0.15 per movie if the bulb lasts through 1000 movies as advertised. Not too shabby. Performance is quite good, especially with S-video or better cables.
I did have to send my first one back to Epson because of approx. 10 dead pixels. I had read that many companies had rotten pixel policies and would make a return a difficult process. Epson came through for me on this one too. They immediately shipped out a replacement projector and let me ship my old one back after I received it. Great customer support!
