Movie Moments

Pros Easy to set up & use; price; the whole thing
Cons none
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  This is a DVD Player for those of us who want to spend more of our time watching the movie than we do playing with the remote :)
Movies are the rare exclusion I've given my diet from television. Since I've been living alone, it seems, the television and me don't associate. We never did really, when I think of it. The TV was one of those accessories which were solely purchased for the benefit of the man I lived with. Without the man, I seriously have little use for the television. Still, there are those sporadic moments when I actually have a craving for the weather station, the local news or even a small dose of Golden Girls. Most often, though, the few requirements I have for a television include the use of a DVD Player. I do like to watch a decent movie every now and again.

When I loosed myself from those powerful male clutches which bound me for so long a time, it seems, quite without intending to, I also relinquished my rights to the DVD Player. When I told my Mama that I didn't have a DVD Player anymore she bought me one for my birthday. A Magnavox DVD Player that perfectly matches my television set. Unlike many partners, these two seem to have been made for one another. They're both small versions, which I prefer, and I can move them around without a problem.

The first movie viewed on my new DVD Player was Legends of the Fall and, after watching this one, I decided that I'm much more appreciative of a good movie and a good DVD Player after spending such a long time without either of them. Yes, I do believe, despite that I might never catch up on two years worth of movie viewing, that my time away from the tube has been most appreciated and even helped my mind to find a more attentive appreciation for those movies that I do spend my time on.

TIME... That was always my most reasonable excuse for leaving the television behind me. And, I suppose, that is still the main reason I don't feel a responsibility to serve my TV as a reliable viewer. With my set, I'm undoubtedly the most faithless of viewers. Still yet, I enjoy the precious few viewing hours I do spend on the television. Time is definitely a reasonable force for disassociating myself from the television. That, and the fact that, in the past, in the relationship I just exited, there were many too many hours spent in front of a TV. At least, from this point of view. :)

I have many more delightful desires and deeds to accomplish to spend so many moments channel surfing and entertaining my mind with thoughts that my mind would probably be much healthier without. Television became, instead of a entertainment source, a calculated plan - a strategy, if you will, of escape from the dismal mourning of a marriage in mute. This television detour helped to the viewers to dodge the reality which forced them to actually face the fact that their relationship was out of focus and needed some intense therapy or divorce proceedings. In the end, the television didn't blow up. The marriage did.

At any rate, this new and admirable toy my Mama gave me has proven to be an excellent choice for a woman who isn't too keen on hooking up electronics or using toys with too many bells and whistles for her mind to accept in one sitting. This DVD Player was so easy to set up, hook up and begin to use that I am beginning to believe I might actually have a knack for following instruction manuals. I am still in awe when I think of the way this little player moved from the box straight to its position beside the television and was actually in use before I was too befuddled to care which movie I played in it first. Amazing experience... me and electronics have started to actually become friends, I'm thinking.

The Magnavox DVD Player DP100MW8 is the perfect choice in DVD Players if you are at all like myself and prefer simplistic to complicated. This player makes hooking up a DVD Player seem nearly as easy as hooking up a new coffee pot. Plug it in and ... well, there is a little more to it than the AC Plug. Still, it's beyond simple and I love that I could read the short version of the instruction manual and find myself watching movies in less than fifteen minutes. Isn't that a record or something, at the very least, for a woman who's mind doesn't mix well with electronic paraphernalia?
