Ge Slim Spacemaker 7-5295 CD Audio Shelf System

Owned two of these units. Both failed approximately 7 months apart. When powering up, the blue display would illuminate and nothing more. When the radio would work they sounded great for a small under cabinet units. The remote temperature sender never worked correctly either. I am very disappointed because I felt I was investing  in a good name brand product. I guess GE products are not like they used to be. Because of the first units failure I ran the second unit through a surge protector, it failed anyway. The problem seems to be the main control board. Since I could not return the second unit I decided to dissemble it. The internal design  the radio was very well though out. There were gaskets all around the inside of the system to create a sealed chamber for the speakers. There was even a tuned port in the rear of the system to enhance lower frequencies. These radios probably had some cheep faulty integrated circuits that  just failed randomly. So if you own one of these and its still functioning your one of the lucky ones.
 Because of this experience I think twice before ever purchasing another GE product unless I can get a very good warranty.
