Pros: 1) Installation was quick and simple. 2) Light works well.
Cons
1.Radio stations do not always come in clear. 2.does not play ANY of my cd's.
Recommended it?
No
The Bottom Line:
Unless there is a solution for playing CD's I would not just avoid it.
I was very excited when I purchased the GE Spacemaker (model 7-5295) recently since my wife wanted one last Christmas and we splurged on other people instead. So, when I bought this item from a private party for $35 I was pleased and somewhat smug that I was able to buy a "new in box" item for less than half the cost...
Installation was a breeze and it took less than 10 minutes.
I anxiously tried the FM stations to get to my favorite station, but all I heard was a lot of static. The cord to plug into the outlet also serves as the antenna, so I had to move it around some. Ok. But some stations worked and others did not for each placement of the wire.
(This was disappointment #1)
Ok, I thought, I can live without all the stations that the whole family listens to. But, we still can listen to our Cd's...
I pressed the open/close button on the device and placed a CD-R that I burned from my music collection. The placement of the CD was not gentle - it did not just fall in place but needed a little pressure. I pressed the Open/Close button again and I could hear the Cd rotating.
The CD display blinked for about 30 seconds, then it displayed 'ND' - meaning no disk. Bummer, It can't play MP3 files.
I tried another CD that I burned that was recorded without a format change - 'ND'- NO disk.
I then tried a CD that was purchased from a store...so totally bummed...'ND'-No disk.
So, I'm not feeling so smug anymore.
I'll do some research about the CD issue since I already invested time and money into the item, but I wouldn't recommend buying this item since it does not perform the basic functions that it was designed for in a satisfactory way. Most hurtful is the CD player issue - a fatal flaw since that was the main purpose of purchasing the item.
