The Bottom Line:  A great performing radio and a good value.
This is a great radio for the money. Especially if you pay under $40. I can't imagine a better radio for that price. Old fashioned, no-nonsense controls. Just what you need, no more. It has much better reception and sound than most new radios, largely due to the large ferrite antenna inside (external terminals for AM and FM antennas are on the back). I routinely listen to the midwest at night and I am on the east coast. Large tuning dial for separating stations. Analog tuning, but compared to digital, this makes for a quieter radio for long-distance listening (DXing). No frills but great reception and selectivity. Narrow/wideband control for better local AM station sound. Switchable AFC for separating weak/strong FM stations. Separate bass/treble and two speakers for excellent sound. One negative for portability may be the large size and weight (with batteries) to house the 6 D cells (AC cord included) and large speaker. Very long battery life.

I have owned two of these radios (a friend borrowed my '94 model and kept it). Some suffer from poor dial calibration and overall build quality - my new one was very good, in this regard. There are many websites on this radio, as it is a favorite among AM DXers and other radio fans. Just Google "Superadio". The long-discontinued Superadio II was said to be the best of the Superadio models but I never got to use one. I enjoy radio a lot (mostly AM talk), like to listen to far-away stations, so this radio is the best $40 I have spent.
