I Do Not Need a Ph.D. To Run My GE VCR

Pros Easy to Use, Functional, Full Features
Cons Wants to Shut Off All By Itself
Recommended it? Yes
I have been VCR-less for the past 2 years. I was terrified about programming these things plus I HATE blinking LED time of day indicators. My solution has always been a piece of black electrical tape over the numbers. Well I bought a GE VG4275 VCR-plus two weeks ago!

My faith in VCR technology has been restored. The GE VCR was a snap to install and program. The only additional piece of equipment I needed to purchase was a three-lead connector to jump between my stereo satellite receiver and the VCR.

I paid only $149.00 for this model. I did not buy it from a huge discount retailer but rather a local store. I might have save a few buck if I shopped around but I did not want to take the time to do the research and driving.

My GE VCR is a compact fully functional feature packed unit. Set-up was performed via an easy to follow set of instruction that pop up on the TV screen. It includes all the expected features people have come to expect on a VCR. These include play, recording, delayed recording, stereo sound and a remote. It performs flawlessly and the picture and sound quality are exceptional.

The VCR Plus feature is a remarkable function. It makes programming timer recordings for my satellite receiver easier but it requires a bit of time to set up and get all 100+ channels logged in. I do not expect to be recording via the timer much but I can if I want to.

If there is a problem with this puppy it is the fact that after a certain amount of time it wants to shut itself off even if you are watching regular TV. I haven't figured out how to stop it from trying to do this yet but that's okay. I've discovered that it is a handy feature when I fall asleep watching endless re-runs of Seinfeld. I wake up and the sound is off! Cool!

Regardless, the GE VCR supports stereo output through my sound system, the quality of the picture is excellent. It has 4 head video, supports over 180 channels, works with most cable systems (I have satellite) and has an appealing low profile handsome style.

I am pleased and my confidence is restored. Well...restored until the first Cassette gets all tangled up inside!
