Worth the 79.99...
Pros
Great product. Turns its self off.....
Cons
Menu on remote only.
Recommended it?
Yes
My husband and I decided a few months ago to purchase a new VCR after the children finally worn out the one in the living room. We went out to Circuit City in Charlotte to look around. We knew we wanted a name brand (Magnavox) 4 head/stereo unit. It also needed to have the controls to operate it on the unit and not just on the remote. If we lost or had to replace the remote then what?..
As we looked around, the GE VG 4270 caught our eye. Now we have always had Maganavox VCRs in the past with very good results, so both of us were somewhat hesitate to change brands at this stage of the game.
However, as we started to look at the GE, we notice it had some of what we were looking for and more?...
The unit in question had 4 heads and Hi-Fi. This was great because we were hooking it up to a surround sound unit. Another feature and a huge plus was the video/audio input/out plugs are located on the front of the unit. This is great for Dubbing from my 8mm camera to regular VHS tapes.
A few other features that are great and very important?.
Auto Clock set
Auto Head-Cleaning(very important for those dirty rental tapes.)
Unified Remote
English/Spanish/French on screen instructions
Pro-Tect Plus (child lock)
Quick Set Guide
Energy Saver System (this is cool? The VCR will turn itself off after 2 hours of inactivity.)
181 channel capability or 125 cable channels
Limited Warranty (90 days parts and 1 yr. Labor)
Anyone can set this VCR up. It has to be the easiest one I have done.
The only thing I don?t like about the VCR is the menu/speed control button is on the remote and not on the unit. So I have hid the remote from the kids. I did purchase a universal remote good on the TV and VCR for them to use. For the price on the VCR (79.99) I can not complain about that.(Of course I say that now LOL)
We have had very good service from the VCR. With 2 children ages 6 and 9 you never know. They can wipe something out in no time.
