The show must go on

Pros Very inexpensive, Portable
Cons Not made well, only 1 speaker
Recommended it? No
The Bottom Line:  This isn't the only cheapy on the market. Not a good deal for us.
This is the third small portable black and white TV that we have. Certainly not state of the art but for $20 it seemed like a good buy.

At first I was afraid that the kids would not be pleased with the TV because they are use to a color TV but I don't think they ever noticed (or cared) that this was a black and white TV.

Description
On the right side of the TV you will find the Telesopic antenna, dial volume control, band switch, function switch, and tuning control.

On the back of the TV you will find a contrast control, bright control and v-hold control. There is a headphone jack, and an external antenna jack. There is an audio in and video in. The DC input jack is also on the back.

The only speaker is on the whole left side of the TV.

There is a built-in handle on the top of the TV which allows an easy grasp of the TV.

There are three choices for powering this TV. A detachable AC cord for plugging it into the wall is included. A cord for the vehicle is also included in the box for vehicle use. It can also be battery powered with 10 C batteries (not included). The battery cover which is located on the bottom slips right off, a screwdriver is not required.

The TV screen is 5 inches and displays a black and white picture.

Portable
This is just the right size. We had a tiny hand-held TV in the past that was portable however no one ever used it. This portable size TV actually gets used a lot. It's small enough to take in the vehicle and large enough for all three kids to see at the same time.

Emergencies
TV's such as this one is nice to have during severe weather when the electricity is out. Last season our electricity went out before the eye of the hurricane. We tried listening to the radio to minimize our battery usage however the information over the radio wasn't good enough because they didn't always mention our area. The TV shows exactly where the storm is and you can know what to expect by looking at the map on TV. We tried to prepare this one for hurricane season this year which is when we realized we didn't have 10 C batteries. All of our other battery powered items are D batteries so that was disappointing.

Other Usages
The kids use the TV for a lot of reasons. They have cable hookup in their rooms so it can be plugged right in for any TV show that they might need to watch. Since it is tiny it discourages them watching it on a regular bases. We hook it through the VCR which makes it easy to flip through channels without needing to change the channel with a dial.

This also sits nicely on a computer desk or in a kitchen.

There is an AM/FM radio included on the TV but we've never really had a need to use it. The wheel is tight and is easy to tune a channel in.

The problem
We have two nearly identical TV's. The other brand works perfectly and has for about the past 5 years. This brand, GPX, started having problems a few days after the 90 day warranty ran out.

The picture is always doing something strange and distracting. Sometimes the whole picture fades to black for around 10 minutes then shows the picture in the center of the screen with a margin around it. Sometimes the picture shows blocks over the picture or static through the picture. Sometimes it will play the volume but not show the picture.

The reception comes in fairly easy with the antenna but our other portable TV like this one comes in easier and better than this one.

Another complaint that we have with this is the speaker is only on the left side. Our similar TV has a speaker on both sides which makes for better audio.

Overall
We love the price and portability of this little TV. What we don't like is the performance. The speaker set-up could be better as well. My kids complain about the picture and refuse to use it. Basically, it's not a reliable TV for us and we will be replacing it with a different brand.
