The Bottom Line:
Do not purchase! I've owned 2 and the longest it lasted was 3 months.
I first bought the GPX in October 2008. I found it on Walmart.com for $115. I really liked the look of the product and that it holds a charge for more than 2 hours. My husband and I bought the DVD player so our 2-year-old had something to do on our long road trips. We used the DVD player for 1 month and it quit mid-road trip. It just stopped playing DVDs period. I was very, very upset because we had about 21 more hours of driving.
When we returned home I contacted the company. It was within the 90 day warranty period so they sent me a new one exactly like I had purchased. I was pleased with it. That DVD player worked exactly 3 months and did the same thing the first one did. It stopped playing DVDs. I wrote the company and was told I would need to send $45 and the DVD player to them and they would fix it.
I think a DVD player that costs over $100 should work longer than 3 months but this one does not.
Key features of the GPX PD808BU 8 in. Portable DVD Player:
Watch DVD movies or photo slide shows from USB flash drives or SD memory cards on the wide LCD screen. You can also listen to CDs. Additional highlights are built-in stereo speakers, a rechargeable lithium-polymer battery and remote control.
The GPX Portable DVD player has 3.5mm audio/video output, Digital coaxial output, S-video output, Dual stereo headphone jacks, Still picture, zoom and slow motion, Programmable CD tracks. Includes DC vehicle and AC power adapters.
When it worked I loved the 8 in. screen, the red outside cover, and the remote. I hated that I've owned 2 and the longest it's worked is 3 months.
