Pros Almost uncanny in its ability to get you around.
Cons Some routing quirks. No Mac support for updates.
Recommended it? Yes

I recently purchased the 2620 for a significant drive: a cross-country jaunt without any specific route plans besides "west, then east." As a result, I had a chance to do a real trial-by-fire. I had picked this model specifically because there aren't a large number of GPSs with the maps... Read full review »

Pros Routing seems faster than old Street Pilot III. Remote and touch screen great.
Cons Sub category searching may or may not work. Speaker for voice is not so good.
Recommended it? Yes

I will not waste too much time talking about the features because if you are reading this I assume you know a little about GPS's for the automobile. Instead I will focus on a couple of issues.

I already own a Garmin Street Pilot III but my wife gave this to me for my birthday anyway... Read full review »

My husband and I recently moved to a new state from California...the roads are old and confusing. I found it challenging and thus, daunting to find a location outside of my home area.

Printing out driving directions wasn't much help, especially when I would go off course and was also... Read full review »

Pros Great unit at low price. Voice prompts and ability to carry from car to car.
Cons Voice prompt does not indicate street, only the turn.
Recommended it? Yes

This Garmin Streetpilot 2620 is my first GPS system (portable or OEM) so I don't have a basis for comparison of features, but from what I've seen thus far, this is an excellent system for the price and it's 4 to 4.5 of 5 stars in my book, even with the faults I've found thus far (explained later in... Pros Pre-loaded Maps, Easy to Use
Cons Not all services and roads up to date.
Recommended it? Yes

I purchased the 2620 to replace a stolen 2610 that I had come to rely on during long distance drives and business travel. My 2610 had the latest maps and software loaded from the Garmin website, and a 4 gig memory card that had all of the North America maps pre-loaded.

The first... Read full review »

I drive approximately 45K miles per year as a salesman in the North East and have been considering purchasing a navigation system for a while now.

I tried linking my laptop to a hand-held receiver and using Streets 2002 to navigate to only find that there were as many hassles as there... Read full review »

When I bought my new car, I passed on the GPS system from the factory. As the next year wore on, I was regretting it. One option was to purchase the factory system at about $1500 or get an aftermarket unit. With the aftermarket choice, you have to decide whether you want an external unit like the... As a commercial real estate appraiser I *LIVE* on mine, often seeing 30 properties in a day between Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties. It is a huge improvement over prior models I've owned - especially the free software updates and overall usability. I am constantly punching addresses in,... Read full review »

Garmin 2620: GPS ready to use straight out of the box.

bymerrington Jul 12, 2005

Pros Easy to use, no additional hardware to buy, accurate, fast replotting.
Cons No battery, no Mapsource, average address finding capabilities.
Recommended it? Yes

I wanted a GPS for a while. I had a few ideas of exactly what I wanted. I know I'll use it more in my truck than on my Harley so the hard drive didn't worry me.

My main pre-requisite was that everything I needed to use it on a trip should be self contained. The Garmin 2620 fit the bill... Read full review »
