The Bottom Line:
If you are able to pay the large cost go for it, great unit.
I purchased this unit for a project I am involved with. We are mapping all the class six roads in our state. So with that we need to verify a lot of locations for where these roads are and how long they are. We also take note of any areas where the roads are severe or have a point of interest. And this unit is great for that.
I know there are several other models that allow you to have way points and tracks (bread crumbs) but this unit has a lot of additional features.
You are able to set your interval for the tracks based on time or distance. It provides you with total distance, time, and elevation just to mention a few points.
The signal strength has been excellent and I have yet to find a place I do not get a connection with a satellite including in my home.
I also like that it will take a SD memory card appose to the micro SD.
Down sides are the panning ability, it pans very slowly and awkwardly and can sometimes take several seconds to load depending on the scale of your map. There also does not appear to be a way to mark way points on the map other then at your current location. I would like to be able to mark locations while parked so I would easily find the area once I get close to it.
