The Bottom Line:
Very good value for a color laser printer.
I was looking for a color printer that wouldn't require me to buy new ink cartridges every time I had to use it. this was usually the case with ink-jet printers in my long experience.
The price of this color laser printer was similar to a good ink jet printer a few years ago, so I bought it to give it a try. Out of the box, it was easy to set up and it was working in less than 15 minutes. The first color photos I tried to print were quite reddish, but this was easy to fix with the HP photo editing software by adjusting the "color temperature" to a "cooler" setting.
The unit is quite heavy and takes up about twice as much desk space as the old monochrome laser printer, but it still fits. Toner cartridges seemed fairly reasonable in price, but when you consider that four of them are required, the cost totals up to almost the purchase price of the printer. I am planning to do most of my regular printing on the old monochrome machine.
Overall, the printed product looks first class and on the HP laser printer paper, it has a magazine-like quality. I couldn't really have asked for much more on any score.
