The Bottom Line:
This GPS is not well designed. There are much better units on the market. Think of the features that you will need before you buy.
I have had 2 Magellins and decided to try the Garmin. The first Magellin was a little large and didn't give the street name audibly so I traded it in on a nice small Magellin. I travel across the country a lot and the smaller one fit into my suitcase much easier. The first time I took the new smaller one on a trip, I went to program in my appointments and I found that it didn't allow me to put in several locations and then hit optimise. Thats when I ordered the Garmin. It came with that option. The first thing I noticed when it arrived was that it was much bigger than it looked in the picture. I tried to turn it on in my office and found that it doesn't have a battery. I used my other one in my office to program where I was going and then took it to the car. I took my new garmin to the car, plugged in the ackward Speaker/car adapter into the center console where I always plugged in my unit. If I closed the cover to the console, I couldn't hear the unit, but I couldn't drive with my arm on the console and leave it open. I tried it for a few days and it seemed OK at finding directions but it seemed to take me the long way around to the places around home that I already knew. I wouldn't want to be in a city that I didn't know and have it take me the longer route. Anyway, it didn't seem very well thought out. It seemed like they were trying to come up with a different idea to sell their GPS so they put no battery and a funny adapter and thought it would be unique. It didn't work.
