I was given the Garmin nuvi 205W Car Gps unit as a gift. It is perfect for navigation on unfamiliar roads. I used only this on a recent trip to Michigan with just putting the addresses in of my hotel and points of interest. Very easy to use.
The only thing I thought could be improved was the instruction book; is leaves a lot to desired, but just playing with the unit I was able to figure it out in no time having never used one before.
It doesn't have to be hooked into the charger all the time. From trip to trip it charges quite well and keeps the charge so that on a shorter trip there was still available charge left.
I would not ever be without one now that I am hooked on it and it has never steered me wrong. I love the option to search for near by restaurants, gas stations, car washes, shopping and a host of other things.
I have seen this unit on clearance at many stores, don't shy away from it just because it is on clearance, this is a quality product.
Mounting suction cup is very secure, just be sure to remove it from sight when leaving the vehicle to deter theft.
