This is a very inexpensive product and I feel for the price it does a good job.
I had wanted a GPS for a long time. I needed this new map especially when we have to go to different cities and we can never find the right or easy way to get to the street we are trying to find. My husband and I can get a little cranky after driving around for hours and then finally get to the city and not be able to find the right street. Yes, we definitely need to have one of these new affordable navigation maps.
Office Max, had the Garmin nuvi 205W Car GPS Receiver on sale for three days only for $85.00. This was the total price including the tax's. The discount was $70.00, so I grabbed my granddaughter, and away we went to find this cure all for old folks who get cranky on long trips when they can't find their way and do not like driving in circles. This was the main reason for buying this product.
Description
The Garmin nuvi comes preloaded with U.S. street maps. The Monitor screen is about 3 inches wide by 5 inches long. It is very easy to read. It comes with a quick start manual,accessory guide, and Gamin's safety and product information. It also came with an extra suction cup for the windshield. Make sure the windshield is clean and dry before adding the suction cup. It comes with a cradle and suction cup mount. All I had to do is fit the bottom of the nuvi into the cradle. There is a slide button on the left to turn the nuvi on or off. There is a SD card slot, a microphone, and a speaker and a Mini USB connector. There is a small block of green and black bars, when at least one bar is green this indicates that there is a satellite signal.
The battery status is shown on the right top of the screen. On the very right corner gives the current time.The GPS is a touch screen. I just type in the keyboard what directions I need. The left side of the screen will ask,( where to?),and this is where the destination will be typed in on the touch screen keyboard.
MY Experience using the GARMIN nuvi 205 car GPS Receiver.
I have just come back from our first trip using the GPS. I keep the GPS in my glove compartment to keep it out of direct sunlight when we are not driving the car. I first start the car then plug the USB cord into the GPS and the other plug goes into the cigarette lighter. It took less than a minute to see a green bar this shows me the GPS is ready. Very simple to get the map on. I touch the screen to find my destination. I see a key pad and and print in my street. I wanted to go to Patton street. The route is marked with a magenta line. I'm ready to start driving. The GPS records the exact miles I will need to drive. The GPS gets me to my destination by using voice prompts. I also like that the nuvi can receive traffic information The traffic icon will change color to show the traffic conditions on the road I am traveling. I love these modern conveniences.
I did make one mistake when I put the suction cup on my windshield. If I would have read the accessory guide that came with my start manual, I would not put the GPS on my windshield. I found out now that the accessory book has a portable bean bag friction mount, that could of just sat on my dash. That's what happens, because I didn't read the accessory book.
The GPS was made in Taiwan,and the power cable was made in Taiwan or China.
