Hang out without pounding holes in the wall...
Pros
Allows you to hang light items like posters without ruining the walls.
Cons
Can leave a residue on your poster and won't hold heavy items.
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
I think this is a great product that is simple to use as long as you don't try to hold too much weight.
Have a teenager in your home? Maybe an even younger child resides in your dwelling. If this child is typical they'll want to hang posters, pictures of friends, and even homemade art on the walls of their room if they are like the children I've known (and been). As a parent you want to protect your investment and keep nail holes in the wall to a minimum, right? Or maybe you rent and don't want the landlord to keep your deposit...either way Fun-Tak is for you!
What you get
Fun-Tak looks and feels like putty. It comes in bars about half as long as a pencil and there are eight bars in a 1oz pack. Believe it or not, this is enough Fun-Tak to nearly wallpaper a room if it's used right.
Fun-Tak claims to be reusable and largely is. It stays sticky even if it's left out on a table collecting dust. Moving a poster is no problem...just peel it off the wall and relocate. Fun-Tak doesn't stick as well the second time but what does?
Does it work?
For posters, pictures without frames, or other single paper sheet applications you can typically but a piece of Fun-Tak the size of a dime in each corner and expect it to stay up forever. In the case of a framed photo or other heavier items I'd skip the Fun-Tak and go straight for the nail bin...this isn't made to hold anything heavier than a poster.
When you are done and want to put that picture in storage you can simply peel the Fun-Tak off the back like you would a fresh piece of chewing gum. Roll it off and then rub of the little pieces that remain stuck for a full removal.
You know the upside but...
So, you already know that it is reusable. I told you that it works, mostly. Revealing that Fun-Tak has it's flaws is the next necessary step to giving you the full picture if you ask me.
Aside from letting heavy things fall you'll find that if something is left hanging for years it can have a Fun-Tak residue left on it when you peel the Fun-Tak off. It's sort of a greasy spot in appearance but you can't feel it at all. Normally this doesn't soak through the picture but it can appear on the back and on the wall. UGH!
If left in open air this will collect every piece of dust that floats by and get REALLY nasty. Keep your Fun-Tak in the store package for best results.
Overall
Anyone can use Fun-Tak successfully. It's great for dorm rooms, apartments, or even workshops (I hold up my tap drill chart with it) and allows easy relocation to squeeze in the new items.
My only warning is that if you use Fun-Tak in great quantities over long periods of time be prepared to paint the room when you take it all out because of those little greasy spots.
