Well, first of all I was very happy with the unit and it served its purpose. Like probably many I only use it in areas where I am unfamiliar with the area. I liked the portability of the unit, since I often fly to my destinations and will use it in a rental car. The unit was a model GM-701 and I probably paid too much at my Volvo dealership, $1200 with tax. Over the Thanksgiving weekend I drove to Phoenix from Southern California and it was helpful after I got into Phoenix. On the way home the unit froze up CONTINUALLY and I had to shut it down and reboot the unit. Fortunately after I got out of the city I knew where I was going, so turned it off avoiding the frustration. I just got off the phone with customer service and it will be $99.95 to check out the unit, plus my shipping it to them. I purchased the unit in Feb. 2006 and after only two or three uses, and 8 1/2 months it turns unreliable. With the cost of some GPS systems in the $400 range, I feel I have been ripped off.
