Great budget Bluetooth unit

Pros Packed with features Auxiliary input for MP3 player/laptop/etc. RF remote control Excellent price
Cons Cheap-feeling buttons Menu layout could be better
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  Excellent Bluetooth performance, feature-packed, great price.
I was looking for something to upgrade my existing head unit (Pioneer DEH-P7300), and I wanted something with Bluetooth capabilities. I've always used Pioneer products, so I started with Pioneer DEH-P9800BT. I quickly found that unit was out of my price range ($500+). I then looked to external Bluetooth units (to add to my existing head unit), but I didn't want my car cluttered with unnecessary items. I then stumbled across the H&B CA-8050BT. I was immediately skeptical of this unit because 1)I'd never heard of H&B, 2)the price was very low, and 3)there were no user reviews of the unit. I decided to take a shot and order it. I was very pleasantly surprised after I installed this player. It has Bluetooth functionality built-in, plays MP3/WMA discs, supports ID tags for terrestrial radio signals, and has a host of other features that my old Pioneer did not have. The display is nice and bright, but it is a bit cluttered as some of the buttons are very small and have 3 different functions (which makes the labels difficult to read). The buttons also have a "cheap" feel to them when pressed, and the motorized faceplate is loud when opening and closing. However, the price vs. features of this unit make these flaws bearable. My Bluetooth phone paired with the unit immediately, and the call quality is superb on both ends. The music automatically mutes and the caller is heard through the car's speakers. If the call is private, it can be transferred back to the phone. Radio station names and format (Rock, Country, etc.) are displayed, as are artist name and song title. An infrared remote is also included that supports almost all of the unit's features.
The sound quality is just average for radio and CDs, and a bit below average for MP3/WMA discs. To be honest, there are a lot of audio options that I still need to set (see below) which may make my speakers sound better (Rockford components up front with 2 inch separate tweeters in the dash and 6 inch rounds in the doors, and 6 1/2 rounds in the rear doors). Volume is loud (claimed 50Wx4) and stays reasonably clear at the higher end of the scale. My last gripe about this unit is the menu options. The navigation is not nearly as intuitive as my old Pioneer was and setting options can be frustrating. The menu items seem illogically placed (as is the case with most cheap electronics), and the manual was translated to English, so some of the wording is a bit off.
Overall, I am very happy with this unit and would recommend it to someone who is looking for an inexpensive Bluetooth head unit. If you're looking for high-end audio and top quality fit and finish, go for something else. If you just want a radio with lots of features and built-in Bluetooth, this is a great deal.
