An amazing HDTV also know as the HL-R5067W

Pros Price without a doubt. $850 @ Tigerdirect. Excellent HD reception and sound production.
Cons Does not handle regular over-the-air stations or crappy cable service well. That's about it.
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  This is the best 50-inch set for the price bar-none as long as you'll be viewing HD or digital sources.
Let me start with a few very important points about this TV.
1) It's an amazing TV for the money.
2) It's reception of Over-the-Air and Cable HD stations is amazing, digital cable looks very good, regular cable looks decent, and if you just have regular over-the-air or crappy cable service then you'll be unhappy.
3) Despite the manufacturers claim that this TV has 1080p resolution, it technically does not. The actual resolution is 1280x720. What the manufacturer may mean is that it displays 1080p sources as good as TV with true 1080p resolution because of their DLP/Color-Wheel/Etc technology. Maybe not unlike AMD, the computer processor maker, putting out the Athlon XP1800, which while really being 1.3Ghz, "seemed" as fast as a comparable 1.8Ghz processor.

If nothing else, take away those statements. Also, this TV is just a shade over 1 foot deep and not very heavy. The rear-projection DLP is a dream compared to the CRTs we're all used to. There are widely reported "rainbow" effects with the Samsung DLP TVs, however this model year (2005) they have improved the color-wheel and I can't see any rainbow effect at all.

This is without a doubt an entry level line HDTV, but with that said, it's maybe the best entry level HDTV for less than $1000.
