Touch Pro 2 - every mum's delight
Pros
Industructible, lrg screen, toddler friendly, technically great for IT, Sound, speaker phone, camera / video
Cons
Outlook sync primitive, volume control spacey, screen scratches easily, touch screen sensitive
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
It's not a Iphone! But it is robust, and completely useful as well as fun.
I did 6 weeks research before settling upon this HTC Touch Pro 2 Phone as the one I wanted. It then took me another 6 weeks to work the blasted thing out. But now I have, I am in lurve. This is my first smart phone.
Easy enough for the 3 year old to use (entertaining himself with video, photos and song in the DRs surgery, very useful) And the screen is a great size for watching children's videos, nice and large.
support on the run for IT clients with terminals services - being able to access servers when I am travelling
great sound for such a small device, they say the clarity is good in the advertising, well they tell the truth, speaker phone excellent
camera better than my actual digital camera
Being able to use my acrylic nails, pen, stylus, finger, carrot stick to access the icons on the screen is very convenient as opposed to the Iphone, which needs your finger tip. One of the main reasons I chose this one.
Also the slide out screen very entertaining for the toddler and extra bonus making it easier to type long emails/sms
Easy access to emails whilst out - yeah! Why am I happy about being able to work 24 hours a day?
And it is Indestructible! I am a phone dropper, and few times I thought I was hold a very expensive paper weight, but pop the battery in and out and it works like a gem. I was even able to realign the screen once when it hit the ground to hard. I wouldn't recommended testing this too much though, especially with the slide out keyboard.
Things that frustrate are:
Touch screen can be a little sensitive and you can end up anywhere in the phone occasionally - if you are in a hurry or trying to answer a call this can be a problem.
Also the volume system is a little flaky, not always doing what it should. And when using the headphones sent with the phone, it is impossible to reduce the volume sufficiently to make speaking to people less painful. I have since bought another headset with a volume control on it and this problem is now overcome.
The other thing that bothered me... and ignorance came into it, was I scratched my screen early on with the stylus, not being aware that there were screen protectors available. I missed the one in the box when setting the phone up.
And finally, one of the main reasons I bought this phone was to have something compatible to sync properly with my MS Outlook. No joy. The sync software is incredibly primitive and frustrating. I have had to physically separate my contacts in Outlook to be able to manage the syncing properly. Also syncing with Media Player is complicated and frustrating. I overcame this by just copying and pasting files directly to the SD card we expanded the memory with. But again primitive. This is a Microsoft issue rather than a phone issue, and if I had Android maybe it would be different.
I still love the phone despite these draw backs.
