Bang on the money
Pros
Cheap, bright, tough, sensitive, excellent battery life, displays location info easily.
Cons
Fragile / easily-lost battery cover. Occasionally needs a reset to whip it back into line.
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
At this price and specification you can forgive its occasional moments of ill discipline. Master that RESET procedure!
Cheapest decently specified GPS available in the UK so absolutely the Best Bang for your Buck available. Simply packaged with no fancy owner manual to hike the overall price (it's on CDR), it achieved a fix from cold in about a minute straight out of the box having crossed 'the pond' from the US manufacturer ... impressive. Sensitive, just about able to maintain a location under Primary Amazon rainforest canopy. Unlike many budget GPS models it can deliver a Grid Reference location with only two or three button pushes... many travellers who still enjoy traditional map&compass navigation do occasionally need just to check position. So many basic machines seem to do everything EXCEPT provide that essential 'you are here' location information. BUT, on two occasions it has inexplicably gone completely 'on strike' seeing the satellites but refusing to achieve a fix. There are two reset options soft and hard, owners need to learn how to do this reset trick before they throw up their hands in despair and send the unit back. SOFT reset = with unit off, hold down PAGE and continue to hold while pressing PWR. Continue to hold until the navigation warning screen displays. HARD reset = hold down Zin and Zout then repeat PWR and wait.
