Not useful for GPS, but makes a good battery tester.

Cons
It is not useful as a GPS device.
Recommended it?
No
The Bottom Line:
I would recommend avoiding this particular model simply because it simply doesn't work.
I was thrilled when I was given a GPS unit by my employer, rewarding me for years of service. My primary use would be for hiking... however, I've been unable to use it at all.
It always takes at least 15 minutes, and usually closer to a half hour, to acquire position. This while standing in a parking lot on a clear day with no buildings or trees within hundreds of feet. Once it finally acquires position, it drops again within a few minutes, and then acquires and drops over and over.
The "set local time" also does not work; when properly configured for DST, it shows the wrong time, and there's no way to make it hold the correct time, it's always one hour early, regardless of DST settings.
I no longer have the packaging, it bears no serial number or anything, so I'm sure there's no chance of getting support from Lowrance.
I urge anyone considering a basic GPS receiver to look elsewhere. On a positive note, I believe this is the only truly "piece of junk" electronic device I've ever acquired.
It does work well as a batter tester, however. You can put two AA batteries in it to see if they're dead or not, and this device will give you the answer!
