Harman Kardon is tops in my humble opinion

Pros Great sound at a good value
Cons remote seems poorly designed
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  Get a Harman Kardon for pleasing, natural sound....oh, it also has all the bells and whistles for a great price.
I've had this receiver for over a year now, and it still delivers loud crisp sound. Don't let some people's comments about it's low power rating dissuade you. While Harman Kardon makes low wattage speaker outputs, the amperage is quite high (so a Harmon Kardon at 40 watts per channel compares to a Sony at 100 or even 130 watts). HK has always done this:think it's their philosophy that low watts/high amps creates less distortion. Whatever, I've always been a big fan of HK since I think they deliver the most natural sound. Some people may like more of a cinematic boomy kind of sound and may want to look at Onkyo or Denon. To my ears though, they seem way to artificial....HK does a great job with DTS,Dolby Digital, and even stereo sources. Music CDs come alive if you try HKs matrix surround setting Logic 7.
