Cons
no automatic surround setting. no automatic digital input. very small display/scrolling on-screen-display (OSD)

Yes
The Bottom Line:
This is a great unit. If you have the patience to set it up, it will be one of your favorite components.
There is no question that the sound quality on this unit is stellar. HK is known for their quality products, although their manufacture in Asia may indicate declining overall quality.
In my opinion the best features of this unit are the configurability. A couple local stereo places have been impressed that I can have surround modes and speaker balance set up for each individual input. This is nice, because you can have DOLBY PRO LOGIC II MOVIE set for your VCR, and PRO LOGIC II MUSIC for your cd player, and LOGIC 7 MUSIC set up for your tape deck. Switching components is all that is necessary and the receiver remembers what mode you were on. Unfortunately I found that this means that you must also configure each individual component. This seems really annoying at first, but after the first few hours of play I rarely find the need to configure anything.
Unfortunately, the ability to configure everything manually apparently took precedence over the ability to handle things automatically. My biggest problem with this is the inability of the unit to detect when my DVR is putting out digital signal, and use analog when it does not detect a signal. I have had several people tell me that this is a limitation of the receiver, and HK technical support has been unable to confirm or deny it. Aside from this one failing I have been very pleased with it.
I use the OSD a lot, because it is impossible to read the tiny text on the receiver from a distance. The OSD works well in S-Video mode (which is not the case with all manufacturers products), which is what I use for my DVD, DVR, VCR, and Computer.
