The new avr325 is an excellent performer. I was worried about the 50 watts per channel, but this is my first H/K. Let me tell you. This thing will rock. I sold my "new" Kenwood VR607 immediatley. I know it was one of Kenwood's lower end amps, but it was rated at 100 watts per channel. Don't get me wrong the Kenwood sounded pretty good but no comparison. H/K has really done there home work. I have also just recently learned that the human hear can only detect sounds in intervals of about 3 decibels and for every doubling of power (100 watts/50watts) will only increase 3 decibels. So keep this in mind when choosing an amp. For just 50 watts of H/K power, this amp will push enough sound out to any size living room. And as for as how good the sound is, just go to your local stereo shop and listen to all the other amps first and play the H/K last. You will walk away with the H/K. Best reciever i have ever owned.
