I bought my AVR45 back in 1999. I paid $800. I did a side by side test w/ a Onkyo reciever that was $200 more. The HK blew it away in the sound quality department. The sound reproduction of this unit cannot be beat at that price point. I have babied mine, and have never had any issues with it 12 years later. I have gone from low end speakers to high end. It makes them all sound phenomenal. You can crank this puppy and your speakers will not distort. It's also upgradeable to 6.1. I am a hardcore audiophile so sound quality is extremely important. Harman Kardon does not make a product like this anymore. Their build quality has gone down as their popularity has increased. If you have a chance to snatch one of these up (pretty sure they no longer make this model) you will not be disappointed. It was a top of the line product back in 99. Distortion ratio is .001. That should tell you a lot.
