I bought this receiver to replace a poor-quality JVC Pro-Logic receiver. I had just purchased a pair of new tower speakers that were sort of "bright" (i.e. a lot of treble). My old JVC only had preset tone settings (rock, jazz, classical) with no settings to reduce the treble.
The H/K, on the other hand, has simple bass and treble knobs that work infinitely better than the complex, menu-driven setup of the JVC. Despite having a meager watt rating (what is it, 35 watts/channel?), the H/K produces louder, "warmer" sound than the JVC, which had 100 watts per channel.
I really like how easy it is to use. There are no complex set-up features, or scrolling though lists of choices to set things up. To do something, just press one button, and it works. That's it.
Highly recommend.
