It sounds so real that you forget it comes from the speakers!

Pros Quality especially sound quality, looks, number and quality of inputs/outputs, surround sound options
Cons pricer than average, may be confusing to beginners
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  Audio enthusiasts must have this work of art displayed in their electronics gallery! Beginners should pass.
For being an audio enthusiast, I am very pleased with my purchase of this audio receiver! There are many reasons why this audio receiver is a must to add in your collection.

First, the quality of the sound is incredible! There are sounds in movies/music that I never knew existed! Before I purchased this audio machine, I was using an old Onkyo with 2 channel stereo, not even a 5 channel receiver. Don't get me wrong, this Onkyo still works great and was top quality back in the 70's, but man is this Harman Kardon receiver awesome! This Harman Kardon receiver makes so much of a difference just in the "warmth" of every sound that travels from my speakers. It can get very loud and there is no noticeable distortion. Also, I just purchased 5 polk speakers to go with this receiver. These speakers really show the quality and power of the receiver. The highs, mids, and bass frequencies are very clean.

This audio machine has plenty of high quality video/audio inputs and outputs for any audio enthusiast. It has every input/output including, but not limited to, component video and optical digital audio. I wish that it had one more component video input, but thats no big deal. These inputs include, but are not limited to, 5 S-video inputs, 2 component video inputs, 3 optical audio inputs, and 3 coaxial audio inputs. I don't think I need to say anymore. One downside to this is the fact that if you want to use this receiver to the max, you will have to dish more money for these audio connectors. This is unavoidable with any audio receiver. Also, it doesn't have any HDMI inputs/outputs. I don't care for that because I don't have a HDMI TV.

Third, the cosmetic design of this electronic masterpiece is beautiful! I love the simple, yet contemporary look of it. From the volume knob to the front input covers, they went above and beyond!

This Harman Kardon receiver has so many surround sound options. These include, but are not limited to, DTS 5.1/6.1/7.1, Dolby Pro logic 2, and Logic 7. Whether your listening to a cd or watching a dvd, this has you covered! I love being able to have many options, but this may be confusing to beginners.

For beginners, the EzSet feature is wonderful. This allows the settings to be automatically set by doing a test tone of all of your speakers. In order to do this you have 3 steps. First, connect your speakers and place them in position according to the manual. Second, connect the EzSet microphone and place in the center of the room or where the audience will listen. Third, start EzSet. Even if your not a beginner, it is still a great feature for experts. You can do EzSet and then fine tune the settings to your listening pleasure.

I waited for this receiver to go on sale, but the usual price for Harman Kardon is higher than average. Also, it is a little difficult to setup this receiver with so many inputs/outputs and speaker connections. If you want a nice theater in your house, its just a fact that it takes some time to setup any 7.1 system.
