Does an excellent job of up-conversion to component video output. Has a wealth of connection options (and one of only receivers I found that has both Optical and Coax digital outputs). I use it with an HD Plasma, DVD player, PC, VCR and tape deck and the sound is outstanding with all of them and it has improved my DirecTV picture tremendously as well as the VCR. It has enabled me to get rid of some extra connections. It was easy to set up and the EZset/EQ worked well to set up the speakers. The manual is extensive and very helpful as this unit has so many features it will be a while before I wade through it all. The remote is well set up, but again has a lot of features that will take a while to learn. I was concerned about the 55 Watt rating, but it has more power than the 100 Watt Sony I replaced and much better quality. In all, I don't think you can get more for your money than with this system.
