This is a top of the line DVD player! Has excellent features - progressive scan, component and optical outputs, and excellently crafted!
I just purchased this particular DVD player (on 10-6-03) from Fry's for $299.00. It is going to complement my New Daewoo DP-42SM plasma TV.
I had been shopping around for DVD players for some time. I had seen numerous models at different stores. But, when I first saw this H/K DVD player, it left me in awe. it is a very beautiful DVD player! But, I did not decide to buy it, there and then. Instead, I want home and gathered as much information as I could. I didn't get much, since this model, H/K DVD101 is fairly new. So, finding reviews was very painful (well, just a little.) But, I did read several reviews- all having good news on the player. All my information and specifications were gotten from the H/K website.
After reading reviews, stating that it ranked high up with other "reference" DVD players, I became very interested in the player. I needed a DVD player for my new plasma, so, I decided to go get it. And, boy, did I make an excellent purchase! This thing is beautiful. It is well crafted. Has needed features: progressive scan, component, and optical connections. (Just perfect for my plasma TV and my home theater setup.)
When I opened it up, everything was very meticulously
packaged. The manual, cables, remote and battery were nicely packed. The remote had all features nicely placed (includes backlit light buttons for night use.)Installation was very simple and straightforward (well, I followed the Daewoo plasma manual for connection to a DVD player.) Upon turning on, one is presented with a nice H/K background screen. The onscreen menu is also very nice and simple to navigate. Changing options from the onscreen menu is not confusing. It is very easy. It is quiet. It can be completely controlled with the remote. You can dim the display, open/close tray, change settings- all with the remote control.
In such a short time, I have gotten many positive comments on my DVD player. H/K has continued to make excellent products. And, the DVD 101 is a perfect example.
I felt so satisfied about the H/K DVD player that I decided to purchase the NEW matching Harman/Kardon AVS 230 receiver, to compliment my home theater.
Truly, I am very pleased with Harman/Kardon for their products. They are excellently built!
