The Bottom Line:
Go pay less for another player and you'll be happier. Sound quality doesn't make up for the lack of design and construction quality.
I bought this CD player because I wanted something better than my old Sony player. I thought H.K. meant good quality. To my dismay I discovered that it means cheap junk made in China.
There were problems with this unit right out of the box. Some problems, like skipping, are a definite quality problem. Other's like occasionally being unable to recognize a disk or freezing up during play are software/firmware bugs that can be handled by cycling power on the player. You need to reboot this player like you would a Microsoft PC.
Still other problems are inherent in the design. The biggest design problem is the slow response of the player. You can't just pop a disc in and have it start playing. Every time the tray is opened and closed, the H.K. inspects each of the 5 slots before honoring any command you gave it to play. Even after loading the disc the H.K. takes a noticeable amount of time before recognizing and playing it.
Overall the player is a disappointment and I'd go back to my old Sony if I could.
