Newer doesn't always mean better
Pros
None that I can really say

Bad sound, few controls, larger than other speakers of the same poor sound quality

No
The Bottom Line:
Don't get these! If you have these free, get rid of them. These speakers are the results of cost-cutting measures from a much better previous model.
This speaker is the replacement of a previous model, which also shared the same model number. But that's about all that is common between the two models.
The previous model had much better clarity, depth and bass, and also had separate bass and treble controls, all of which are not found on this "new" model. The worse thing was they all cost about the same! So that means you pay the same price for a much more inferior product now!
Audiophiles would recognize that larger sized enclosures are necessary to produce good rich bass, this resulted in the older model being taller, but with about the same width, depth and footprint as this new model. So the sound quality of the older model was a world apart from this model; especially when it comes to bass response.
Granted, these aren't professional grade speakers by any means, but it's just a shame that Harman/Kardon had resorted to cost-cutting measures to the point where it affects the performance so drastically.
These speakers normally come standard with Dell PCs, and just by looking at how many Dell PC owners are trying to ditch theirs in Ebay, you can easily tell that they were not too happy with them either.
If you have a choice of speakers, don't choose this! If you have these free, get rid of them.
Dell has apparently learnt their lesson and are supplying the new HK 206 now. Even though the 206's also do not have separate bass/treble controls (they don't even have the "tone" control these speakers had), but at least they have slightly larger enclosures now, and offer a more decent sound quality... but performance is still somewhat below what of the older HK195's.
