IT'S A CD CHANGER. A NICE ONE.
Pros
Looks good. Great sound. Fast tray service.
Cons
No SACD support. Pricey.
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
Just a solid, good looking, great sounding CD changer.
Simple enough. This is a CD changer. I purchased this unit as I did not want to have to continuously change speaker settings because I wanted to hear a audio CD on the HK DV player.
SETUP:
This is where it gets good for me. If I have to look at the instructions, I probably do not like it. Needless to say, one power cable and one digital cable is all I needed to connect this unit to my receiver and go. I like it already.
APPEARANCE:
Unit is gorgeous. In my opinion the best looking changer on the market plus is matches my AVR430 HK receiver just fine except the backlit words have a different blue tone than my HK DVD31 and AVR430. Why three different colors is beyond me for a system that is made to match each other.
SOUND:
Very good processing. No issues. No surprises. High-end Burr-Brown digital processors convert the digital signals back to analog without inducing any artifacts; or use the coax digital output to connect directly to the processor in your A/V receiver for best results.
USABILITY:
Yes you can change other CD's and have one listening. Nothing groundbreaking there. No SACD support which is sad but to be expected on a unit of this age. Expect SACD support on the next generation changer from HK. They certainly omitted it from the DVD31 player. This unit has the usual play options. I am just a simple man and would rather forgo the random and other play options. Put the CD in and play is my game.
Now I do not know about you, but how fast a changer spits out the tray to change a CD is very very important to me. This unit satisfies the impatience in me. Good job HK.
In the box you will get tiny simple remote, and simple RCA cables. Nothing more. Nothing less.
I purchased this unit from J&R music online. Shipping was next day. Recevied in 3 days. Fantastic service.
