Buying trouble

byhalim Aug 3, 2003

Pros Potential to organise your CD collection
Cons Drives you mad by failing too often to play some CDs
Recommended it? No

This is a CD player which looked like a dream in the shop. Reasonable price and the ability to handle a large part of your collection.

The dream turned sour after I loaded 300 CDs (a simple but laborious process) and then realised that many of the CDs would not play. The 1st track was... Read full review »

Pros Outstanding access to your music.<br>Ability to create...
Cons Time getting all of your CDs loaded but fun to reacquaint yourself with your CDs.
Recommended it? Yes

I was a little hesitant to purchase this unit after reading some of the reviews about problems with CDs skipping or even not playing in some cases.  I did encounter this problem a few times but the cause and the solution were very obvious.  The only CDs that had the problem were CD's that I had put... Pros No real pros other than it won't be destroying any more of my music.
Cons I can't decide if I am done with sony. They sure make great TV's
Recommended it? No

This player worked for a while. Very slow on random. It destroyed one disc and got jammed. Then another, then another. The best hope is for it to become a boat anchor. Read full review »

I'm almost embarassed to admit that I own three of these players. Two of them are filled with store-bought CD's- the third will be stocked with CD's that contain my vinyl/album collection of many, many years. Two of my players are linked in a master/slave connection. I can automatically shuffle... Read full review »

Best CD Player I've owned

Pros Good on-screen display. Love the keyboard input.
Cons Can be a little tricky to use. Remote lacks a little.
Recommended it? Yes

The on-screen display is nice. You can easily find your CD's by artist name, setup categories for your tunes, etc. It has a "hit list" feature that will let you dynamically put in up to 30 of your favorite tracks and play them without having to manually switch disks / tracks. I found the unit a... Read full review »

I have tried everything including different recording software, recording media, recording settings and even CD burners. I can not prevent this player from skipping on the first track of almost every recorded CD factory music and later tracks of CD-Rs work great. I exchanged the unit for a new one... I've had two of these Sony Mega Storage and am disappointed with the product.  The first ate some of my CDs probably because the box was too big for my shelving and unbalanced; so, I decided to give it a second chance after adding a wider shelf.

The second Sony Mega lasted about 3... Read full review »
