Intuitive, Programmable, Finally! this is the one!

Pros Easy to use, easy to program, nothing it can't do
Cons None .. seriously none!
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  If you have a home theater with multipule components to control as a system . . this is the remote for you. For less than $200 you can't beat it
I am in the AV system design business. I am generally ahead of the curve when it comes to having the latest equipment in my system (even if waiting means i can get a better price! silly huh?) So . . that means allot of devices . . complicated control . . especially for my wife who keeps screaming for the "one button" remote solution that she doesn't have to think about to use.

I have tried many many programmable remotes over the years . . and i had settled on a Sony model with a touch screen. looks cool, good programmablity . . but there is no tactile feels to the touch screen section . . so i continued to look . .

The TC-30 is the answer to my prayers. It programs easily by connecting it to your computer. You simply tell it what devices you own and how you will be using them and the program and website do most of the rest. Now this is not to say that you won't have to use some of your old remotes to confirm or correct the right codes for your devices, but this too is an easy process.

if you are a more experienced user/programmer you will find that there is simply nothing you can't do with this remote. The activity based macros that the program sets up for you will cover the uses of 99% of the people who need this remote. For those that have advanced needs, you can change or add to those macros as you see fit. It's really very nice.

Now how about use? remember the "one button" rule my wife wanted? well i'm not sure there will ever be a remote that will be quite THAT simple, but this comes darn close. The top part of the remote is a screen with buttons lining each side. The screen shows "activities" like "Watch TV" or "Play a DVD" (again all of this is editible) . . you push the button and everything is on and setup properly. . the wife loves it!!

It also is a nice size with good tactile buttons . . this may in fact be the perfect programmable remote
