The Bottom Line:
I can't recommend this printer, or HP's customer service. I would give 4 stars while it worked, but downgrade to 2 stars because of the short lifespan.
I just had my second HP 7210 crap out on me. I bought one about two years ago and really like it. I liked it so much, I bought a second one for my wife to use, thinking it would be convenient to share ink cartridges. While they were working, I like them pretty well. They printed well, and the scanner and copier worked as expected.
The features are good for the price, although the document feeder is lousy, as it pulls two pages much of the time.
The first 7210 I had quit working after about 18 months of moderate use. I used HP's online and telephone "customer service" and got nowhere, because it was out of warranty. Their "solution" was to offer a replacement of the same model for more than I could find online. Their second "solution" was to upgrade to a new model, again for about the same price I could find online.
The second one quit working yesterday, after very light use for about 15 months. HP's customer service offered up the same lousy choices. I told them unless they offered some real value to me, I would not be buying another HP product. And I didn't. I just ordered a Canon all-in-one.
I have been a loyal HP customer for years, but no more. The reliability seems to have gone downhill. My cost per page went up with the 7210 because the ink cartridge is about half the size of my old HP printer, and I replace it a lot more often.
Bottom line: I can't recommend this printer, or HP's customer service.
