low cost good quality
Pros
Good quality of printing, small, the price is right. Great for B/W documents.
Cons
Doesn't open from behind, so I can't print on very thick materials.
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
I recommend this printer even if it's not the cheapest on the market for the good overall quality and for the software options.
I used to work with professional HP laser printers so my first choice for a home printer was a ... HP laser printer.
I find this printer easy to install in Windows XP. I managed to install it under Linux, too. It's not easy but finally it worked with OpenSUSE 11.0
I had a small concern regarding the smoke. But in fact it's all about water condensation on the fuser. Because the printer doesn't have a fan, sometimes there is a small amount of steam due to the humidity.
I didn't have issues with the every day use and I didn't yet changed the toner. I printed about 500 pages, manly in the economic mode.
As any low-cost printer, it doesn't came with a USB cable.
The quality is excellent even in economic mode. It hasn't a duplex feature, but it's easy to print on both sides of paper from the driver features and manually turning the paper.
The software functions are very complete, they allows you to print in every imaginable mode (booklet etc.). It's a huge step for HP which had many software issues with some printers.
