WinNT users, yes you can have it too!
Pros
great scanning at a great price
Cons
packaged hp scanning software is horrible
Recommended it?
Yes
I bought this scanner about six months ago and for $59 after rebate, I couldn?t beat the price. I got it back to the office, and discovered, much to my chagrin, that the HP software packaged with the scanner does not work with Windows NT. (I should have read the box before buying the scanner) No support from HP on this matter, either. So I had one choice staring me in the face: take it back to Office Depot for a refund. Well, while I was in denial, I was bumbling around with various drivers and such, I came across a miracle: UMAX?s VistaScan 32 software works with the HP ScanJet 3200C.
The scan quality is excellent for someone who scans forms for online use and photos for web-albums. And later on when I connected the scanner to a Windows 98 system and used the HP software, I found that it is not as easy to use as UMAX?s, and the scan quality is not as nice.
Do yourself a favor: if you?re looking for a scanner for a great price that gives good quality scans, try the HP ScanJet 3200C. Just remember to download the free software from UMAX?s website.
