A very BIG monitor!
Pros
BIG bang for the buck! Easy to install.
Cons
None.
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
This monitor is a great investment. Like going from a clunker to a corvette!
I bought this monitor along with my new HP desktop. I got it as part of a configured special order from Office Depot. After mail in rebates, the monitor was less than $200. It was (literally) a HUGE bonus!
After using an old Toshiba and a 15" monitor for ten years, I was honestly afraid of such a big change. Boy, am I glad I made this purchase!
I opened the monitor box and was shocked at how large it is. I was certain that it would be too big to fit in the space provided on my desk for a monitor. Much to my pleasant surprise, it fit and with a couple inches to spare.
It came with a quick instructions sheet that made installation a breeze as well as a very intensive booklet with all the details. A few moments later, and I was up and running!
From the minute I turned it on, I was taken back by it's sheer size. Then I gave it a test run and still wasn't sure about it, it was just so big and different. It was the same feeling I had when I replaced my little old station wagon with a new mini-van, very awkward at first, but soon I realized the comfort level immediately increased in a very significant way.
With my old, traditional monitor, I had a real problem with glare. This is not a problem with this monitor. I am able to leave my office windows open all day.
I found the adjustment buttons very easy to use. I do wish, however that they were placed on the front of the monitor rather than the side which makes finding the correct buttons a bit of a challenge when tucked into a cubby.
I've also noticed that I suffer from less neck and eye strain using my new monitor. Like my old car, I hadn't noticed how uncomfortable I was until trying something larger.
Being such a big monitor also makes it easier for me to see what my kids are doing online. With just a glance, I can see exactly what they are viewing, even from across the room. Which bring me to my last comment. This monitor has a tv tuner available and I highly suggest that you purchase this option. I did not. And when my family room tv died, I regretted it. It could have done double duty until I bought a new television.
I'm sure there are many other great features of this HP monitor that I've yet discovered. As soon as I do, I will certainly update this review.
