I've owned a digital camera for about 2 years now, and I have to say the one thing I felt was missing when I first got it, was the ability to have printed pictures. While I have no problem looking at the pictures I take on the computer, print outs are just easier for transport and good at family parties.
I'd spent months trying to get my printer to print the "photo quality" prints it claimed it would, with the results being less than satisfying. I found this printer on sale at NewEgg.com and decided to give it a shot.
Setup couldn't be easier; I expected a clunky interface from less-than-mainstream manufacturer, but nothing of the sort. The 'ink' system snaps into place, and the paper is inserted into a special tray, which then slides into the printer itself. Installation on the computer is as simple as connecting the USB cable and inserting the CD.
Any application that can print can use this printer, doesn't matter if they're photos. Once you choose to print, you get a nice preview of the photo, and you can resize, zoom, or re-center the image. The printer screen also contains simple to use tools for removing red-eye.
The printing itself is very quick, about 30 seconds per photo. The paper is actually printed on 4 times, once for each color of reg green and blue, and a 4th time puts the shiny protective coat on. If you see a reason for it, you can even produce a textured coat in any pattern you want.
I would highly recommend this product to anyone who would like to have print outs of their digital photos. It's easy to use, and the results are spectacular. Almost impossible to tell the difference between this and a 'professionally' printed photo.
