HP L7680 after one year
Pros
With extended warranty and computer knowledge is good for small home based business
Cons
HP way install and use, slow on network, no auto cropping, expensive to maintain
Recommended it?
No
The Bottom Line:
At this point, look for a better, more up to date printer from a manufacturer with better software and support and please read objective customer reviews before buying.
I own a HP Office jet Pro L7680 for a little over 1year and use it in a home office environment connected through LAN to 4 PCs. Total prints 1326 pages.
Install: You have to use the full featured install package. I installed only printer drivers on one PC and could not print. Using it on the network is slow compared to other network printers I experienced.
Scanner: Can not set size to scan(cropping). Will always scan whole glass making it slow and cumbersome. No auto crop feature. The software that handles scanning is hard to work with and slow. Can not make any configuration changes until it finished scanning and it takes a couple of minutes from the moment you initialize scanning and the page is displayed . Can not even cancel scanning. If you rarely scan it is OK. The scanning feature is probably best used for FAX. Never could scan to file.
Printer: The quality of printing is mediocre. I compared it with an HP ink jet printer I use for 11x17 prints. This printer was not made for high quality prints used for presentations or quantity.
Fax: Used it as a simple fax machine and it did the job.
Support: The L7680 showed an error message B842B20E after 14 months in operation. It also displayed a message to reboot but half way through power up it displayed the same message. Called customer support but since is out of warranty they would not talk to me until I paid $35. Once I paid they told me that they can repair the printer for $200 or sell me another printer but would not tell me what the error message meant or the reason for it.
Overall: A good all in one unit for the price. Buggy, low end software. Hard to install as a network printer. Expensive to maintain. Reed objective customer reviews before buying HP
