The Bottom Line:
look elsewhere.
One of the big reasons I bought this printer was because it allowed me to copy a document into an email or folder as a pdf right from the printer. This function occassionally, doesn't work at random times, and wastes more time than it was supposed to save. I've spent dozens of hours with tech support without success.
The printer also needs to recalibrate every 12 hours or so. Though there is a setting for never recalibrate, the printer drivers override this setting and recalibrate anyway. Tech support explains that this is how the printer is designed and nothing can be done about it. Unfortunatley, recalibration is loud and might occur at 3 am. As I have a home office, this is disrupting. It may also recalibrate just before printing if it hasn't printed in a day or so. If you're like me and print something just before you head out the door, it is very frustrating waiting the additional minutes while it recalibrates.
Finally, the printing to pdf function creates documents that are not crisp. I end up redoing a lot of these at my work printer
This is an expensive printer, for the money I think you can find one a better designed.
