Hewlett Packard LaserJet 1018 Printer

This is a small printer so it doesn't take up too much desk space, but it can print just as well as the larger laser jets. It only requires about one square foot of desk space. It doesn't have color, but for those of us that only print black and white, it's excellent. It holds a reasonable amount of paper, approximately 100 sheets at a time and I have discovered that it's easy to slip in more paper under what is being fed without worry of a paper jam.

It has a space for labels and envelopes or other special paper which print easily as well. The space is directly above the paper feed tray and slides to the required size just by a simple touch.

It prints beautifully and quietly. The images, even in black and white, are very clear and the printer does not make enough noise to disrupt my phone calls.

I print about 1000 sheets or more a week and my toner lasts me at least a month if not longer. The toner is VERY easy to change. There is a compartment on top. You lift the door to the compartment and the cartridge is right there. They are designed to be easy to grip. It lifts out and you slip the new one in. Toner does cost around $50 though, but it is well worth it for the length of time it lasts.

The one time I managed to jam my printer, it was very easy to clear and remove the paper that was jammed, and it was my fault. I wasn't paying attention and loaded the paper crooked. It also kept the information stored so that I didn't have to click for reprint. It just picked up where it left off in the paper jam.

It prints very fast as well. My 100 or more page reports are printed in under a minute. I would definitely recommend this printer to anyone who needs a black ink only printer.
