The Bottom Line:
Would recommend for the casual printer and someone who does not print pictures.
After my $300 three in one printer went out on me, I went looking for a replacement. My needs have changed over the years and my main needs in a thre in one printer/scanner/copier are as follows: 1) scan pictures into files that can be distributed via e-mail, Facebook, etc.; and 2) print mostly black and white copies and a few color copies but not picture quality copies. Obviously my needs are few so instead of spending a fortune on a three in one printer, I went for this HP All-In-One InkJet Printer. I have had this printer for four months now and it has been a mostly pleasant experience.
The set up and installation process was pretty standard and simple. The CD-rom installed itself and the hook up to my laptop and desktop was easy as well. Since its installation, I have mostly used the printer for scanning purposes and it has done its job. Scanning pictures is simple and the quality is great.
I have made quite a few black and white copies and those have turned out as expected. The quality is decent and the printing is relatively fast. I did have a problem rcently with a paper jam and I thought for sure the printer was ruined. After forty five minutes of panic thinking about how I should have purchased the insurance offered at the store, I finally got the jam issue resolved. The printer does not walk you through the removal of a jam as other more expensive machines do so it was through trial and error that I was able to remove a piece of crumpled paper out of the back of the machine.
I do not use the fax capabilities of this machine since I have another fax machine I have used for years. All in all, I would say this has been a great purchase for home use and one that I hope will continue to last.
