Pros Great picture, excellent blacks, good sound, friendly remote control.
Cons Remote not lit, no power-switch on TV, Plasma's draw lots of power (350 watts).
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  Great 42" Plasma television. Produces an excellent picture and sound without breaking the bank. User preference allows custom picture settings. Sleep timer handy.
First, Walkerpkw did an excellent review and covered what I was going to attempt to. This HP Plasma has a great picture even though the screen is 768x1024 (720p). The television produces good blacks and is very watchable with a 480i signal. We just use rabbit ears and a DVD Player for movies. We were looking for a 42" television and liked Plasma because they are exempt from the refresh rate issues LCD TV's can have. (120hz LCD's are supposed to reduce delay). Very fast motion on an LCD TV can leave a trail but I haven't seen any evidence of this on a Plasma. The television's remote control is very easy to use but is not lit. The TV must be operated with the remote as there's no switch on the TV itself. The speakers face to the rear and sound quite good. I peered through the rear cover and the Plasma screen assembly says "LG" on it. So at least the display is made by LG. The sleep timer could have better resolution as it has 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour, etc. We wish it had 15 minute increments. We kind of impulse bought this TV, however, had made out mind up to go Plasma. We were at Costco and the Manager was just putting the HP TV on display. He said the set is only available "on-line" and someone had ordered it, changed their mind, and returned it to the store. He said since they don't sell this model in their stores, it needs to go. So $750 bought it - brand new. It was hard to pass it by and Costco said we have 90 days to return it. I think their on-line price is $900?
