Excellent 19 inch LCD monitor for the money
Pros
Image quality, build quality, height and swivel adjustments
Cons
For some, perhaps the lack of portrait rotation
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
Buy it (check CompUSA)! It offers a lot of features and quality for the money.
I recently purchased this monitor (new, not refurbished) after much shopping around, and managed to snag it for $579.00 (after a $50 rebate) from CompUSA, which is not usually the best place to get a "deal."
There were many other 19 inch LCD monitors for well over $600.00 (including Dell, Sony, Samsung, etc.) but this had the best features and quality for the money.
Images and text are crisp. No dead pixels so far. Screen is fairly bright...only the new Toshiba notebook, the Qsomio (?) seems significantly brighter (at 600 nits!) to me.
I do a lot of photo editing, video editing, websites, etc., and this monitor is more than sufficient. I don't use it for gaming, so I can't comment on ghosting / response time, but according HP, it has a 20 ms response time, which is about average.
I love the height adjustment via a single column (similar to Dell), which many other LCD manufacturers like Sony, E-machines, NEC and Samsung don't offer on many of their models. The swivel feature is very convenient and one that is not offered by a number of other manufacturers (some just offer tilt).
Although it doesn't rotate into portrait, that's okay, because I doubt most users will ever need it, but if so, spend more for the Dell.
Very solid, heavy base...and excellent overall build quality.
All in all, I would strongly recommend this for most users that want a lot of LCD monitor for the money.
By the way, I had no problems with set-up...very easy.
